"... unfathomable, almost-robot like ability to learn multiple tracks in what seems like seconds"
~Kirk Sheppard
hey !
Kaela O'Connor is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where she obtained her BFA in Musical Theatre and the Guildford School of Acting in Guildford, England, where she obtained her MFA, also in Musical Theatre.
A Jersey Girl ™ born and raised, she fell in love with the theatre when her grandmother took her to see Cathy Rigby in Peter Pan at the age of 4. Since then, she has never lost sight of the magic that theatre can bring. She is also a firm believer in the phrase "never grow up" and believes that we should never lose our sense of childlike wonder and play.
While in Cincinnati, she had the wonderful opportunity of working two summers at Kings Island Entertainment as both a dance captain and swing. She covered a total of 8 tracks her first summer and 6 tracks her second, earning herself the nickname, 'Robot'. She later took that newly learned skill into school where she swung all five principal roles in Carrie, The Musical on top of the role she was playing, and at the same time, was brought in to learn the entirety of Singin' In the Rain in one week after another actor fell ill.
She currently serves as the Artistic Director and Co-Director of Musical Theatre Company at Class Act Performing Arts Studio (CAPAS) in South Orange, NJ. She has also taught Tap, Advanced Audition Techniques, and Musical Theatre Dance Styles, and regularly subs Voice, Lyrical, Jazz, Hip Hop, and kids Musical Theatre classes. She has choreographed productions of "Carrie, The Musical", "Sweeney Todd", "Spring Awakening", "Head Over Heels", "Pippin", and "Sweet Charity".
In her free time, she enjoys doing things with her hands (don't be weird about it!) like making custom tie-dye clothing, learning to crochet large plushes, drawing on her iPad, and annoying her very good boy Otis, whose Instagram account is arguably more exciting than hers.
